Description |
Rules of the game of ca.1790 entitled Game of human life; "This game is played in a way somewhat similar to the Geographical pastimes, but from the great variety of subjects it embraces, it may fairly be asserted that it comprehends more useful information, and more variegated amusement for youthful minds, than has hithero been accomplished by any person, whose invention has been laudably exerted for the instruction and amusement of young people. It contains the characters, of which a list is given on the other side, engraved on copper, and executed in a very elegant and masterly manner, arranged in the following order: The age of man is divided into seven periods of twelve years, namely, 1st, Infancy to youth 2d, Manhood 3d, Prime of life 4th, Sedate middle age 5th, Old age 6th, decrepitude, and 7th, dotage" 84 characters are listed. Johnson copy is slightly foxed. Rules only. Has remnants of linen hingeing; New game of human life, with Rules for playing; Human life; Image 2 |
