English: This is Waffles, a feral kitten rescued from the side of the Massachusetts Turnpike with several other litter mates in November 2007. In this photo, she is just over six months old, and we believe her to be an Egyptian Mau. She has a bronze cast underneath her silver spots and stripes, but we are uncertain if that will persist once she leaves kittenhood, so we don't know if she is actually a bronze rather than silver Mau. We got her when she was recently neutered, and we verified that her spots are part of her skin as well as her fur, another Mau characteristic. She also appears to have the connective skin to her rear knees.

Waffles has all the social features of an Egyptian Mau. She is fast as lightning around the house (easily outracing our other two cats), playful, and extremely intelligent. She loves toys that move, and she has a favorite rope which she will carry in her mouth and often tie in knots around chairs or the table. When my wife leaves the house, she will sit and sing mournfully awaiting her return. She is extremely social with the family, but disappears should strangers appear.
