This image, acquired on 14 June 2021 by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites, shows a dense smoke cloud emitted by a major fire at an industrial plant in Illinois (USA).

Description
English: This image, acquired on 14 June 2021 by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites, shows a dense smoke cloud emitted by a major fire at an industrial plant in Illinois (USA). A few hours before the image was acquired, a fire broke out at the Chemtool Inc. plant near Rockton. The fire was so violent that it generated a dense cloud of black smoke that spread for several kilometres to the SSE of the incident site. The Open Data provided by Copernicus Sentinel satellite missions and services allow us to assess the consequences of natural and industrial fires on air quality and vegetation.
