| Description |
English: - I made this picture to illustrate the current situation in academic circles. We feel we are chasing the sun that is shining brightly, even though we are being sucked in by a strong dark vortex, until the light does not escape. Inspired by a song released in 1994 by the band Sound Garden.
- In this case, university managers (executives, senate, professors' forums) must be able to believe and convince the government that to measure the success of research, one must use one's own potential and strengths and rely on research with high local value. - Perceptions of high-quality research related to patents and publications in prestigious journals need to be corrected immediately, because: - Patent-based closure. Meanwhile, science will develop faster and further if it is based on openness. - The quality of research rests on the researchers themselves. Journals are not a major component of research quality assurance. Journal peer reviewers are actually a component of the researchers, not the journal team.- Researchers must reduce their dependence on external indicators that are not directly related to the tridharma. Universities not only handle research, but also need to handle education and community service. Bahasa Indonesia: - Gambar ini saya buat untuk menggambarkan situasi di kalangan akademik saat ini. Kita merasa sedang mengejar matahari yang bersinar terang, padahal sedang terhisap pusaran gelap yang kuat, sampai cahayapun tidak lolos. Terinspirasi lagu yang dirilis tahun 1994 oleh band Sound Garden.
- Dalam hal ini, pengelola Perguruan Tinggi (eksekutif, senat, forum guru besar) harus mampu yakin dan menyakinkan pemerintah bahwa untuk mengukur keberhasilan riset haruslah menggunakan potensi dan kekuatan diri sendiri dan bersandar kepada riset-riset yang bernilai lokal tinggi. - Persepsi tentang riset berkualitas tinggi yang berhubungan dengan paten dan publikasi di jurnal bergengsi perlu segera dikoreksi, karena: - Paten berbasis ketertutupan. Sementara sains akan berkembang lebih cepat dan lebih jauh bila berbasis keterbukaan. - Kualitas riset bersandar kepada peneliti sendiri. Jurnal bukanlah komponen utama dalam penjaminan kualitas riset. Peer reviewer jurnalpun sebenarnya adalah komponen peneliti, bukan tim jurnal.- Peneliti harus mengurangi kebergantungannya kepada indikator-indikator eksternal yang tidak berhubungan langsung dengan tridarma. Perguruan Tinggi bukan hanya menangani riset, tetapi juga perlu menangani pendidikan dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. |
