Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bishops' Tree, Fulham Palace This cedar of lebanon tree trunk has been carved by Andrew Frost, with figures of bishops and some of their accoutrements carved in cedar. On top is a sculpture of Bishop Porteus (Bishop of London from 1787-1809). He was a campaigner for the abolition of the slave trade and left his collection of books to create the library at which he is staring - information from http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/externalsite/Fulhampalace/The_Gardens.asp . The tree has been carved in memory of Peter Moorhouse (1957-2003), a local resident.
