To those of our readers who are not familiar with the objects of the Council,we may state that it was formed for the purpose of placing students in directcommunication with an authority on the bird-life of the region in which theylive, to whom they might appeal for information and advice in the many diffi-culties which beset the isolated worker. The success of the plan during the twenty years that it has been in opera-tion fully equals our expectations.
