.\lbert H. Pratt picturesque demonstration of the benefitsof living with our feathered friends is mostdesirable, as an object-lesson and an in-spiration. It is hoped that the interestaroused in the Alt. Meenahga reserse willserve as an awakening to many visitors,and that they will be moved to makesome personal experiment in bird-protec-tion in their home communities. New Federal Bird-Reservations President Wilson has continued thebeneficent practice of his predecessors since end of the Strait of San Juan de Fuca,connecting Puget Sound with the PacificOcean, a bird-reserve. The last-named isespecially important, as both of theserocky islets bear lighthouses, whose keep-ers will always be present to preventraids upon the breeding sea-birds thatcongregate there. Finally, on September4, 1913, .\naho Island, in Pyramid Lake,.Nevada, was made a reserve. As^ this iswithin an Indian Reservation it is doublyprotected against spoliation, and will bea boon to many kinds of ducks and shore-birds.

Dunk (86) The Audubon Societies 87 The Brush Hill Bird Club The Brush Hill Bird Club, of Milton,^Massachusetts, began its existence in thespring of 1913, and at once took thoughtof what it could do for the township.It has lately issued an illustrated reportabounding in useful and suggestive in-formation, copies of which are for sale bythis Association at 50 cents. Its activitieswere many; and to arouse and sustainlocal interest it held an exhibition in thePublic Library at Milton, which had awide influence in showing what could bedone in the way of protecting and fosteringthe birds in a suburban community whoseresidents are desirous of preserving thenatural beauties and advantages of theirlocality, and appreciate the value andpresence of the birds. This exhibition included a variety ofbird-baths, a large collection of branchesof berrj^-bearing and seed-bearing treesand shrubs, and the seed-stalks of weeds,an assortment of grai
