You cannot see thestream of Divine influence which is poured into the spirit ofyoung Israel in this school, nor can you hear the sweet whispersof Divine love coming from teachers lips to pupils heart, norcan you comprehend the peace and joy produced by your openhand for true Jewish charity. *In these signatures from the hands of four hundred inno-cent little children, we wish you to read the perfect love ofchildhood going out to you, the hidden peace and joy comingfrom the study of Holy Torah. Mayor Barnert was visibly affected by this splendidtribute of esteem, and in his simple way, reiterated his interestin the school—if that was really necessary—and of his continuedsupport of the institution. Barnert inquired of the Directors as to how many of them wereinterested in the Miriam Barnert Hospital. The followinganswered: Jacob Fabian, Herman B. Kitay, I. Horowitz andA. I. Bluestein. Mr. Barnert then desired to be informed as to the progressof the hospital and also as to whether or not a larger institu-tion with more commodious accommodations would benefit thecity at large. Upon receiving assurances from the Directorsthat a larger hospital with more modern accommodations wouldbe greatly appreciated, Mr. Barnert announced that he woulddonate $150,000 together with sixteen city lots situated onBroadway, between Thirtieth and Thirty-first Streets, andThirteenth Avenue. LAND DEEDED FOR HOSPITAL.
