manly ferry Binngarra, launched 1905, decommissioned 1930, scuttled 1946

Summary[edit]

Description
English: manly ferry Binngarra, launched 1905, decommissioned 1930, scuttled 1946. photo estimated to be between 1918-1925. Class leader of the six "B" Class Manly ferries, the SS Binngarra was launched at Woolwich, Sydney in 1905. Following were Burra Bra, Belluberra, Balgowlah, Barrenjoey and Baragoola. She appears to be fresh out of the workshops. And beautiful lines she had too. She set the standard design of Manly ferries until Belluberra was converted to diesel in 1936. In the photo she has solid short-length timber railings around the wheelhouse which helps to date the picture.
