f the War. Immediately upon the outbreak of the war the board took measuresso that its property was constantly guarded by a patrol on the water-side, as well as on land. In addition, flood lights were installed withpowerful projectors so that the light would be thrown diagonally andlight the shipping alongside the piers and the mouths of the slips. Tothe north of the Ferry Building there were placed at Piers 43 to 35,six powerful ficod-Iight projectors of 100 watts each, and seven of 400watts each. To the south of the Ferry Building, from Piers 26 to andinclusive of 46, there were installed five large projectors of 100 wattseach, and ten of 400 watts each, so that all the piers from 26 to thechannel were well lighted. Fire Insurance.
