First produced at the OperaComique, Paris, February II, 1840; Milan, October 30, 1840; Berlin, 1842, at the Royal Opera,and during the next sixty years it had two hundred and fifty performances on that stage.Produced in London, in English, at the Surrey Theatre, December 21, 1847, and during thesame year, in Italian, with Jenny Lind. The first American performance of which the authorhas knowledge was that at the New Orleans Opera, March 7, 1843. Jenny Lind, Sontag,Lucca and Patti have all appeared here as Marie.
