Description Unter den Linden and the Television Tower (Fernsehturm) in East Berlin, seen through Brandenburg Gate in 1970, The television tower was built in 1965-1969. The facets on the tower reflect the sun in the form of a cross. This led to several nicknames. My favorite is "St. Ulbricht," after the communist party leader at the time the tower was built.
