That this period of enforced restwhen he is made to lie down in green pastures of quie-tude may be divinely blessed for his restoration to the endthat he may consummate some of his long cherished plans forthe institution which he so largely made and which is dear-er to him than his own life will be the hope and prayer ofhis host of friends the comitry over. 3

A GOOD TERM A GOOD TERM. The general opinion is that the fall term was one of themost successful in the history of the college. The enrol-ment was more than one hundred in excess of any previouscorresponding term. Absences from classes were few: thestandard of scholarship was appreciably raised; college spiritwas in evidence. With very few exceptions the deportmentof students has been excellent; cases of discipline have beenvery few. Students went home in excellent spirits, loyal andenthusiastic for their college. One dean remarked that hehad never known them to go away in better mood. Allthis is good capital for the institution. In the college, academy, and normal departments newcurricula went into effect at the beginning of the year.Many courses were made two hours per week. In certaindepartments this has been an advantage, in others it is atbest experimental. The range of electives has been greatlyincreased.
