Other data show that nearly 80percent of the AT&T owners ownless than 200 shares of the com-panys stock; that more than halfown less than 60 shares; and that athird own 20 shares or less. Itsplain to see, therefore, that AT&Tshares, once labeled the Widowsand Orphans Stock, are not onlythe most widely held in the nation,but are held primarily by Mr. & Mrs.Average Citizen. The fact that so many hold smallblocks of stock in no way dimin-ishes their interest in the way thebusiness is run. Far from it.
