The hub of this vasttracking and communications complex, called NASCOM, is NASAs Goddard SpaceFlight Center in Greenbelt, Md. The network ties together 18 communica-tions and tracking stations around the world, including three ships on the high seas. Atthese stations, radar and telemetry equip-ment track the Gemini spacecraft and acquiredata on the performance of its componentsand its occupants. Radio, telephone and tele-typewriters funnel this information to God-dard.
