He was taught to move hislegs up and down as though he wereactually climbing a pole. (These exer-cises are very Important, for theylimber up muscles which are not or-dinarily used.) Now the men were ready to put ontheir climbers. At first they felt quiteawkward, for they had to learn towalk with their legs spread farenough apart to prevent the gaffs ofthe climbers from cutting their feetor legs.
