While this was a very expensiveway to produce radar equipments, theservice proved to be of such greatvalue in its saving of time that itgrew rapidly. The 1943 dollar volume of radarsystems pre-production was $3,000,-000, and in 1944 it increased morethan three-fold. This service was unique; itsnearest equivalent was a job shop atthe Radiation Laboratorv for con-struction of development models insmall quantity for similar purposes.
