The compactness and good appearance of the telephones andtheir associated control keys, together with such features as 76 A NEW SERVICE quick intercommunication and the arrangement for ensuringprivacy and freedom from interruption on outside calls, makethe new service attractive to both business and family groups. Use in Business EstablishmentsFigure 1 pictures a typical business group for whom thenew service would be appropriate. Such a group might, ofcourse, comprise either a distinct business establishment ofmoderate size or a number of people associated in a depart-ment of a somewhat larger organization.

All other telephones are automatically locked out whenan outside line is picked up to make or receive a call, thusproviding privacy. One or more telephones can be restricted to inside inter-communicating calls only, if desired, such as, for example,the telephones in the file or stock room. If desired, all incoming calls can be answered from anyone telephone, such as from the telephone in the outer office.
