pends upon service organizations like the Telephone Pioneers to take opportunities,turn them into will and deed, and createa wealth of humane endeavors and ac-complishments. We would be sore-pressedtoday if it were not for these organiza-tions that ease the burdens of the under-privileged, and perform the humanitariandeeds that are needed but neglected. Pio-neers themselves have a proud record ofrepairing talking book machines, promot-ing the use of seat belts, rolling band-ages, getting-out-the-vote, and taking aninterest in communities. But their achievements have been lassthan their capabilities, becaase theirgoals have not always been specific. Thishas been a handicap to the full realiza-tion of the Associations potential. Butnow, convinced of the interest of all themembership in community activities, con-vinced of the need and the desire of allcommunities for their services, the Pio-neers have set goals for themselves andpledged themselves wholeheartedly tocommunity service work.
