Description
Français : "Charles Beaubrun a été formé par son oncle Louis Beaubrun un important portraitiste sous Louis XIII. Grâce à son entremise, il a été rapidement admis à la cour, de même que son cousin Henri avec lequel il collabora souvent. Les deux jeunes artistes étaient soutenus à leurs débuts par Anne d'Autriche puis par Marie Thérèse. En 1648, les deux cousins ont figuré parmi les membres fondateurs de l'Académie dont ils assumèrent la charge de trésorier jusqu'à leurs morts. Leur atelier était devenu au fil du temps un véritable Salon où se cotoyaient des personnalités de haut rang et beaux esprits. Les noms de Charles et Henri Beaubrun sont souvent indissociables. Il est diffcile de discerner la main de l'un plutôt que de l'autre sur les oeuvres peu nombreuses qui leur sont données. De ce fait, on a prit l'habitude de leur attribuer les portraits cojointement. Leur habileté à embellir leurs modèles leur a valu surtout les faveurs d'une clientèle féminine.
