Title
Bead
Description
English: A complete monochrome glass bead of possible Anglo-Saxon date. This bead is circular in plan measuring 18.6mm in diameter and 7mm in thickness. It has a large circular central perforation, measuring 8mm in diameter. The glass is a light pale green in colour with air bubbles visible within the glass. There are circular marks around this bead, presumably where it has been worked.

The pale colour is found on early Anglo-Saxon beads (e.g. Brugmann's Doughnut type) but is not particularly common in beads of this shape, which tend to be a deeper blue or green (e.g. Brugmann 2004, fig. 94a and 94b).
