No visit to London would be complete without several hours with which to bask in the glory that is the Barbican. It really is one of the few truly urban spaces in London that, as a pedestrian, you can sit, watch, wander, visit, explore... Yes there are lots of parks, but they're positvely dull by comparison. For me it epitomises the ambition of modernism: architecture as an expression of humanity.
