DescriptionBalkanschild.png |
Deutsch: Balkanschild (Replik)
English: Balkans Shield (German: Balkanschild), purportedly a replica of a possibly unofficial or disapproved campaign badge. It was reportedly designed by Benno von Arent and intended to be presented to the German military forces engaged in combat against the Red Army and partisans in the Balkans during 1944 and 1945. It is unclear whether this badge was ever manufactured or awarded.
Campaign shields (German: Ärmelschild, 'sleeve shield') were badges of varying design given to members of the German Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS based on their participation in specific battles or campaigns during World War II. |
