Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Willmersdorf station was originally built for the single-track, non-electrified Cottbus-Frankfurt (Oder) railway line, which become more and more irrelevant following WWII and was for the most part abandoned between 1996 and 2000. However, several sections have been retained or reactivated, such as the one between Cottbus and Willmersdorf, which now serves as a detour for the Cottbus-Guben railway line. Its old alignment had to make way for an expansion of the Cottbus-Nord open-pit lignite mine. The station itself wasn't retained, but replaced by "Cottbus-Willmersdorf Nord" roughly one kilometer to the northeast.

Shown here are the former signal box, gravel road between CB-Willmersdorf and -Skadow as well as the district heating pipeline from Jänschwalde power station to Cottbus.
