Português: Baía de Machico. Fotografia de Aloísio César de Bettencourt (1838-1895), 1885 (c.) O Museu de Fotografia da Madeira – Atelier Vicente’s assinalou, entretanto, o 183.º aniversário natalício de Aloísio César de Bettencourt (n. Santo António, Funchal, 28/02/1838; f. Funchal, 01/04/1895), reconhecido empreendedor, artífice e fotógrafo madeirense, como um dos mais destacados fotógrafos amadores da sua geração, e o seu portefólio está repleto de imagens do Funchal assim como uma panóplia considerável de paisagens rurais e naturais da Ilha da Madeira. Encontram-se também alguns retratos captados no exterior. Estabeleceu uma parceria com o hoteleiro Jacinto Hannibal de Freitas (1839-?) com quem cogeriu o atelier fotográfico situado no mercado de S. João, onde atualmente se encontra o Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias e com quem colaborou no “Aurora de Domingo“, o primeiro jornal ilustrado madeirense, onde publicou em 1862 “uma vista da parte ocidental do Funchal, tirada da Quinta de São João”. Em 1872, envidou esforços para fundar o jornal literário e fotográfico “Panorama Photographico da Madeira”, em associação com Joaquim F. Nogueira e Luís de Ornelas Pinto Coelho (1843-1920), projeto esse que não viria a se concretizar. |
