Summary[edit]

Description

Soviet WW2 era Light Cavalry Tank Manufacturer:- Kharkov Komintern Locomotive Plant (KhPZ) Built:- 1932 to 1935 Total Production:- 650 Main Armament:- 37mm Model 30 tank gun The BT-2 was the first of the Soviet ‘Bystrokhodny’ tanks, which translates as ‘fast moving’ or ‘high-speed’ tanks. These were designed to use the American Christie suspension system, ideal for the purpose. The BT-3 was exactly the same tank but built using the metric system instead of Imperial. These were still called the BT-2 in service so this could probably be either. The BT-2 could reach 39mph and was the fastest tank in service throughout WW2, although by 1941 it was rarely in frontline service. On display in Hall 8 of the Patriot Museum Complex. Park Patriot, Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
