Description
English: This 1978 photograph depicted Dr. Russell Regnery, and Dr. J.V. Lange as they were seated in a CDC Maximum Containment “Cabinet Lab”. Both doctors had their hands inserted into the cabinets through protected air-tight gloved portals. Scientists working within biosafety laboratories, known as BSL, must wear protective garments, some of which are air-tight, thereby, protecting the technician from exposure to highly infectious pathogenic organisms. In this case, the pathogens were sequestered inside air-tight observation cabinets, therefore, the need to clad the scientists in air-tight full-body suits was not required.
