Summary[edit]

Description
English: Established by King Prasat Thong in the Ayutthaya Kingdom, this ancient palaceis situated in Banglanesub-district, Bang Pa-In district. After the second Burmese occupation, the palace was abandoned, but became known publicly again by SunthornPhu when he wrote about the palace in a poem “NiratPhrabat”.

In Rattanakosin era, King Rama IV had come to retreat at this palace and in the King Rama V era, the palace was reconstructed and H.M. the king mooted to build throne halls in 1876 – 1889. The palace is divided into two sections, the outer zone includes AisawanDhiphya-Asana pavilion (a pavilion constructed in the middle of a pond) andWarophatPhiman residence and the inner zone includes UtthayanBhumisatian throne hall, WehartChamrunt (a Chinese-style throne room) and WithunThasana tower.

Presently, Bang Pa-in Royal Palace is under the supervision of the Bureau of the Royal Household. The palace serves as a residence of H.M. the King and the royal family members, as well as a location to carry out a ceremony, offering sacrifices to Chinese’s ancestors.
