Summary[edit]

Description Escutcheon of John William Aytoun (1868–1918), in St John's Church, Little Gidding, Cambridgeshire, England. His claim to this variant of the Aytoun arms would presumably be through his father John Peter Aytoun (1827–1902), a manufacturer in Kirkcaldy. He was the incumbent at Great and Little Gidding for a few years from 1913.[1] He married Ethel Mary Dowding, daughter of William Dowding of Fareham, Hampshire, previously in business in Riga, in 1909, and this memorial may have been set up by the family.[2]
