Rodolfo attended Colegio Alemán de Maracaibo to learn the German language. In November 1931 he attended in Germany the progressive boarding-school Freie Schulgemeinde in Wickersdorf near Saalfeld in the Thuringian Forest. After graduation (Abitur) he studied medicine at Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Berlin where he met his friend Humberto Fernández Morán (1924–1999), whom he knew from his hometown. Rodolfo's father, half of Jewish descent, urged Rodolfo to leave the Nazi state in 1939 for security reasons. Before that, Rodolfo married the German Ilse Gerda Natalie Braun (born August 2, 1919 in Berlin) in the Danish capital Copenhagen on 13 November 1939. The civil registration provides a different date of birth for Rodolfo, 17 May 1915. During the marriage the couple got two daughters, 1941 and 1945. Rodolfo matriculated at the University of Bern, where he completed his studies in 1942 with a doctorate (VIAF ID 313236199; http://viaf.org/viaf/313236199). In Bern he then worked for two years, initially as an assistant at the Institute for Radiology at the Second Medical Clinic. In Solothurn he worked in a hospital. In seiner Geburtsstadt besuchte er zunächst das 1894 gegründete Colegio Alemán de Maracaibo, um die deutsche Sprache zu erlernen, bevor er nach Deutschland kam und ab November 1931 Schüler des reformpädagogischen Landerziehungsheimes Freie Schulgemeinde in Wickersdorf bei Saalfeld im Thüringer Wald wurde. In Bern war er in der Folge für zwei Jahre zunächst als Assistent am Institut für Radiologie der Zweiten Medizinischen Klinik tätig. In Solothurn arbeitete er in einem Spital. Aus seiner Ehe gingen zwei Töchter hervor. Nach Kriegsende kehrte Rodolfo nach Venezuela zurück, wo er als Facharzt für Innere Medizin und Radiologe in einer Privatpraxis praktizierte.
