DescriptionAutograph of Richard Wroe (1641-1717); woodcut printer's device of Hans Rambau of Görlitz.jpg |
English: R. Wroe S.T.B Autograph of Richard Wroe, who earned his S.T.B. (Sacrae Theologiae Baccalaureus) in 1672. This volume likely came into his possession between 1672 and the early 1690s; by 1695 he marked his books as "R. Wroe S.T.P", indicating his new professorial status. See J.E. Bailey, Richard Wroe, D.D., Warden of Manchester (1882). Established heading: Wroe, Richard, ‡d 1641-1717 Woodcut printer's device of Hans Rambau of Görlitz. "The device features the Latin inscription AUXILIUM MEUM A DOMINO: QUI FECIT CAELUM ET TERRAM, found in the Vulgate version of Psalm 120:2, which translated means 'My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.' At the top is the Tetragrammaton, or the divine name ..., written in Hebrew." |
