CHAPTER VI. Autograph Collecting. EARLY every person has sufficient interest in onedirection or another to obtain autographs of eminentpeople—artists, authors, actors, painters, statesmen,or others. True that many of these may not atpresent be men of any special mark, and thegreater portion may never achieve prominent distinction, butsome of them will, and the correspondence of even onecelebrity is a valuable possession. By enlisting the interestof friends, and letting it be known as widely as possiblethat one ds fond of old writings, one is sure now and thenof securing a prize. Dealers in waste paper, auctioneers,small shop-keepers, and all other likely persons, should beinduced to look out for such things, and report when theyhear of them. We may be sure of this, that there are lettersof the greatest interest sufficient to satisfy the desire of themost eager collector lying perdues, which only want looking afterand discovering, and we shall by-and-by give some furtherhints about t
