Rückseite: ARMENI[A] / CAPT[A]. Nebeneinander eine armenische Tiara, ein Köcher mit vier Pfeilen sowie ein Futteral mitsamt dem Bogen.

Kommentar: Kern (Anima) einer subaeraten, gefütterten Münze. - Nicht vollkommen ausgeschlossen werden kann angesichts der schlechten Erhaltung die Bestimmung als RIC I² Nr. 516 (dort AVGVSTVS auf der Vs.). - Geschlagen wurde das Orignial anlässlich der erfolgreichen Inthronisierung des pro-römischen Königs Tigranes in Armenien. Abgebildet sind auf der Rs. dessen Herrscherinsignien. Mit der Formulierung ARMENIA CAPTA unterschlägt Augustus die Tatsache, dass Jahre zuvor bereits Marcus Antonius das Land unter römische Herrschaft gebracht hatte; eigentlich müsste es demnach RECEPTA heißen [vgl. dazu M. Spannagel, Armenia recepta aut capta? Zur Veränderung einer augusteischen Münzlegende in: B. Kluge - B. Weisser (Hrsg.), XII. Internationaler Numismatischer Kongress Berlin 1997 (2000) 622-629].
