English: Portrait of Ferdinand of Austria-Este (1754-1806) Español: Descripcion mostrada en el sitio web de la colección: "El retrato Fernando Carlos debió ser ejecutado hacia 1795, cuando el archiduque tenía 37 años de edad, réplica o copia de un retrato pintado por Peter Mayr. La voluminosa y oronda cabeza del archiduque, ocupa prácticamente toda la superficie del soporte. Sin embargo se deja ver la parte superior de la casaca blanca ribeteada de rojo desabrochada en la parte superior, visualizándose la camisa encañonada y el lazo de terciopelo negro a modo de corbata. Sobre su pecho se vislumbra parte de la estrella de la gran cruz de la orden de San Esteban de Hungría y la cinta roja de la insignia del Toisón de oro que cuelga de un ojal de la casaca, no visible en el retrato, y que podemos apreciar en el busto integro del archiduque que pintó Peter Mayr, y que conserva la galería Boris Wilnistky Fine Arts, de Viena.
Peter Mayr era el más notable de la escuela austriaca, al que atribuimos este retrato de delicada carnación rosácea ejecutada con un firme y cerrado puntillismo apenas perceptible al ojo, y donde el artista se ha recreado en la descripción del ondulante cabello blanco, en fuerte contraste con el fondo oscuro del retrato." |
