Attard, Pavilion Stella Levantina 1920

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: On the feast of the heart of Jesus, after the last Mass (only in the mornings at that time) this pavilion was erected on the main altar, designed by the founder of Soċjeta Mużikali La Stella Levantina (Banda Santa Marija Ħ'Attard), Master Karm Debono.

In the evening when the procession entered, the sacrament was placed on top and all the priests of the parish would go up one by one, incense the sacrament. There were about 90 candles on the stairs. It is worth noting that at the top of the pavilion there is a small turret on which there is a statue of a Pelican feeding its little ones; a symbol of the Eucharist, where Christ feeds us human beings.

This pavilion remained erected by stairs until 1920, then later it was erected without stairs. The last time the curtain of the pavilion was set was for a special 1951 festival, for the music-literary academy in honor of the Assumption. Parts of the pavilion still exist to this day, including the pelican in the parish center museum, as well as the cherubim (angels) that are erected on Maundy Thursday for the Replacement altar.
Malti: Nhar il-festa tal-qalb ta' Ġesu, wara l-aħħar quddies (dak iż-żmien filgħodijiet biss) kien jintrama dan il-pavaljun fuq l-altar maġġur, disinn tal-fundatur tas-Soċjeta' Mużikali La Stella Levantina (Banda Santa Marija Ħ'Attard), Mastru Karm Debono.

Filgħaxija xħin kienet tidhol il-purċissjoni, is-sagrament kien jitqiegħed fuq nett u s-saċerdoti kollha tal-parroċa kienu jitelaw wieħed, wieħed jinċensaw is-sagrament. Fit-taraġ kien ikun hemm mad-90 xemgħa. Ta' min jonnota li fuq nett tal-pavaljun hemm tużell ċkejken li fuqu hemm statwa ta' Pellikan qed jitma liċ-ċkejken tiegħu; simbolu tal-ewkaristija, fejn kristu jitma lilna l-bnedmin.

Dan il-pavaljun baqa jintrama bit-taraġ sal-1920, imbagħad wara baqa jintrama mingħajr taraġ. L-aħħar li ntramat il-purtiera tal-pavaljun kien għal festi speċjali tal-1951, għall-akkademja mużiko-letterarja f'ġieħ id-Domma tal-Assunta. Partijiet mill-pavaljun għadhom jeżistu sal-llum il-ġurnata, fosthom il-pellikan li jinsab fil-mużew taċ-ċentru parrokjali, kif ukoll il-kerubini (anġli) li jintramaw f'Ħamis ix-Xirka għall-altar ta' Repożizjoni.
