Description
Nederlands: Tussen 1655 en 1658 bezocht een handelsdelegatie van de Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie Peking met het doel om handelsrelaties aan te knopen met China. Een van de deelnemers aan deze reis was de Amsterdamse wereldreiziger Johan Nieuhof. Na terugkomst publiceerde zijn belevenissen in een rijk geillustreerd reisverslag. Bij dat boek behoorde ook deze kaart waarop de reisroute van het gezantschap door China is afgebeeld.
English: The richly illustrated travel journal of Johan Nieuhof, a worldtraveller from Amsterdam was published in 1655. Nieuhoff accompanied from 1655 to 1658 a delegation of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) to the Emperor of China. After his return he had his journals published. The book was one of the great bestsellers of its time. This map with the travel route of the delegation was part of the book.
