Description
English: Dr Olfert Dapper (1636-1689) published a great many books after 1663. He wrote among other a history of the city of Amsterdam and translated Herodotus into Dutch. He is, however, mostly known because of his descriptions of far countries. He was able to collect enough written material for his books while he never visited the countries he was writing about in person. This city view on Hong-Kong was included in a description of the Chinese Empire.
