Text Appearing Before Image:
tribute the work to some of theiridol gods. And so long as men did not think of airshaving weight, they would not, of course, make anyinvestigations in that direction. At last, however, thequestion was raised. Men asked, Has the air weight? How this question first arose, no one now can say.Possibly it was suggested by the phenomena them-selves. If so, the facts of nature were pointing mentoward the truth. Or it may be that men read Job28:25, and then went to nature with the question. Ifso, it was the Word leading men to the facts that ex-plained the truth of the Word. How one could readthis text in Job and not have the question suggested,it is not easy to understand. But in some way, atlast, the question was raised, Has the air weight? During the earlier period of the revival of learn-ing in Europe, the question was occasionally discussed, and was always decided in the negative. No suchpressure could be felt. All experience and sensationseemed to be opposed to the idea of its existence.
