United States Department of the Interior National Park Service Washington September 18, 1933. Supt. James R. McConaghie Gettysburg National Military Park, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania My dear Mr. McConaghie: Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of September 9, together with blueprints and photographs concerning the erection of the Alabama monument to be placed in Gettysburg National Military Park. This material has been reviewed and we see no object to changing the word “eternal” to “immortal” and adding the statement that the monument has been erected by the Alabama Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Therefore, in accordance with your recommendation permission is granted for its erection and for these changes in wording to be made. Sincerely yours, A.E Demaray Associate Director
