According to Brian du Preez, professional botanist specialised in South African Fabaceae, the specimens from the south should be split from the northern populations with grey pubescent leaves and almost completely white flowers like this.
According to Strelitzia 29, p. 535, A. albens is an erect shrub or shrublet with spreading branches, to 1 m. Leaves 3-foliolate, leafl ets terete or subterete, straight or S-curved, rigid, pungent, hairy to subglabrous. Flowers small, 3–10(–30) in terminal spike-like racemes, pale yellow, fading brownish or rose, wings and keel hairy, calyx large, hairy, lobes triangular, pungent, hairy. Flowering Aug.–Sept. Sandveld, occuring from Namaqualand: near Hondeklip Bay to Cape Peninsula.
