Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Title: Argonne Embroidery. The Argonne forest bids fair to become as famous for its embroidery as for its battles. Under the guidance of the Society of Friends of Philadelphia and the American Red Cross, hundreds of women and girls are supporting themselves by making a new embroidery. This unique welfare organization is directed by Miss Louise Baker, seen in one of the pictures and has enrolled hundreds of women. Cloth and thread are furnished by the organization and the workers are paid from 40 to 50 centimes an hour for their services
