A CONTEMPORARY STORE (From Page 17) some with sliding glass doors and adjustableglass shelves, soffits with fluorescent lights areused; the material is Eastern combgreen oak,sanded and finished with lacquer and Formicafor service plates and the wrapping counter. Asemi-private corner space has been arranged inthe back of the store for display of high-class mer-chandise and factual sale. Special care has been taken regarding lightingand fixtures; there is a combination of luminousdirect and indirect lighting. The main fixture issuspended beneath the ceiling of the mezzanineand two rows of specially designed fixtures addto the apparent length of the store. A large mirrorin back of the store improves likewise this im-pression. Superimposed upon general illuminationis the spotlighting for display windows and theinterior of the store to emphasize color and specialfeatures.
