| Description |
Nederlands: Gevel aan de Schilderstraat van het voormalig Hoger Handelsgesticht, sinds 1979 het Hoger Instituut voor Vertalers en Tolken van de Artesis Hogeschool, nu UA. Het gebouw is een complex geheel met hoofdgebouw aan de Schildersstraat en achtergevels aan de De Vrièrestraat en de Coquilhatstraat daterend van 1893-97 naar ontwerp van F. Sel en F. Truyman.
De gevel aan de Schilderstraat is sierlijk uitgewerkt met drukke barokke versiering van zeven traveeën en twee bouwlagen van witte natuursteen en hardsteen. Drie centrale traveeën als monumentale poorttravee met koepelvormig dak, boven de kroonlijst bekroond door een driehoekig fronton met obelisk, steunend op Korinthische halfzuilen; flankerende monumentale leeuwen; nis met beeldengroep, die "de vier werelddelen". voorstelt. Boven de poort met driehoekig fronton met palmetten en consoles, is de tweede bouwlaag uitgewerkt als bel-etage met drie brede rondboogvensters, waartussen Korinthische halfzuilen, geflankeerd door twee monumentale volplastische beelden, "Het Onderwijs" (J.
