Description	English: A Tartar warrior reins his horse (Walters 27.123). The warrior's dress, including the curled shoes and the fur tunic worn over chain mail, identifies him as coming from the time of Genghis Khan (1167-1227), the founder of the Mongol Empire. The statuette is generally regarded as one of Barye's most romantic works. This base was originally described as being in the Byzantine style.
