Should be sown in hot beds in February, transplanted into another frame in the latter part of March, and in May plant out in rows three feet apart, two feet between the plants, in a light rich soil. If the weather is dry, water freely. To head in June, they can be sown from about the middle of August to September, transplanted into cold frames for protection during the Winter, and set out early in the Spring. Add at the rate of 8 cents per lb. for \ lb. and upwards, if to be sent by mail. per pkt. per oz. per lb. Early Snowball. Very reliable for heading, besides being very dwarf in growth, with short outside leaves $ Improved Early Paris. A standard early variety Extra Early Dwarf Erfurt. The earliest of all, very dwarf, pure white heads, good quality : Autumn Late Giant. A valuable late variety, producing large white, firm heads Early London. A large medium variety Le Normand's Short Stem Mammoth. The largest and one of the most reli- able for general cultivation CELERIAC OR TURNIP=ROOTED CELERY. A variety of Celery, having turnip-shaped roots, which may be cooked, or sliced and used with vine- gar, making a most excellent salad. It is more hardy, and may be treated in the same manner as celery- Add at the rate of 8 cts. per lb. for \ lb. and upwards, if to be sent by mail. Turnip Rooted. Per pkt., 5c; per oz., 15c; per lb., $1.25. Large Prague. Per pkt., 5c; per oz., 1,5c; per lb., $1.25. CHERVIL. Cultivated like Parsley. The young leaves are used for flavoring. For Summer use sow in March, and in July for Winter. Add at the rate of 8 cts. per lb. for \ lb. and upwards, if to be sent by mail. Curled. Per pkt, 5 c; per oz., 15c; per lb., $1.50 CHICORY. The roots of this vegetable are much used in Eu- rope as a substitute for coffee. One ounce will sow a bed of for and one-half feet by thirty feet; four lbs. to the acre. Add at the rate of 8 cts. per lb. for \ lb. and upwards, if to be sent by mail. Large Rooted or Coffee. Per pkt., 5c; peroz., 10c; per lb., 80c. CHIVES. Chives are perfectly hardy little perennial mem- bers of the onion tribe, and are grown exclusively for their tops, which are used wherever the flavor of onion is required. Planted in small clumps in any common garden soil, they will grow readily, and in time increase so as to render a division necessary. The tops appear very early in the Spring, and can be shorn throughout the season, hence this valuable little plant should have a place in every garden. Roots, per bunch, 10c
