Description
Français : Photo prise à l'occasion de la tentative d'annexion des Îles Wallis le 12 juin 1913 : à la demande du Lavelua, les marins du navire de guerre français Kersaint hissent le drapeau français devant le palais royal (Sagato Soane) et tirent une salve. Mais l'annexion proprement dite n'aura pas de suite et sera rejetée en 1922 par la France.
English: Photograph taken in 1913 showing the "annexation" ceremony of Wallis island. Responding to the Lavelua (King of Wallis island), officers of the French ship "Kersaint" raise the French flag and fire a salvo on June 12th 1913. But the annexation had no lasting effect and was rejected by France in 1922.
