plus ou moins hémisphérique, à paroi très mince, et quirenferment les jardins de culture. Ceux-ci sont isolés chacun dans une chambre quils remplissentpresque entièrement; ils sont fixés au sol par leur base seulementet restent libres en haut et latéralement. Comme toujours leuraspect rappelle une éponge. Leur grandeur varie quelque peu; ilssont plus ou moins arrondis, convexes supérieurement. Quant à leur structure, elle est la môme que celle de tous lesjardins des termites mycophages connus jusquà présent : uneagglomération de petits corpuscules sphériques. La colonie représentée en coupe verticale renfermait trois de cesjardins de culture, lun plus considérable que les deux autres. M. Bell ajoute : « The nests of this fungus-growing termite arevery fragile, being made of cemented sand and earlh, and verythin. In one case I dug down 4 feet into the sand, and found threelarge chambers quite close to eachotiier, each filled nearly comple-tely with a fungua-bed. 351
