Tous sont desaérobies, car. ensemencés dans la gélose sucrée, daprès laméthode de Liborius, ils ne se développent quà la surface de lagélose. La plupart dentre eux ont pour optimum de croissance60 . bien que tous croissent encore à 70°. Le fait qui méritesurtout lattention, cest que tous ceS microbes, sauf un seul, nesont pas capables de -e développer à 37° et au-dessous, de sorteque nous avons le droit de les classer parmi les microbes ther-mophiles absolu>. 1. MICROBES THERMOPHILES DES EAUX THERMALES. 791 Je passe maintenant à la description de tous ces microbes endétail. Bacille n° I. — De la source à 51°, on isola un microbe pré-sentant à côté de très longs lilaments non ramifiés des bâtonnetsrelativement courts ; pas de spores (fig\ 1) : colonies très épaissesau centre, samincissant vers la périphérie en forme de pétalesmultiples (fig. 2). Cest sur la gélose simple et glycérinée que cebacille végète le mieux; il en couvre toute la surface et ne sendétache que difficilement. Laddition du sucre agit défavorablement. Dans du bouillonil végète plus abondamment et ne pousse point sur la pommede terre. Il ne liquéfie pas la gélatine. On na pas constatédamylase ni de sucrase. Je nommerai ce bacille bacillusthermophilus filiformiis. Bacille n°2. — On isola du même échantillon deau un courtbâtonnet immobile, poussant rapidement sur les milieux nutritifssolides. Les spores sont placées presque à lextrémité
