Summary[edit]

Description
English: Ankara Clock Tower

The clock at Ankara castle, served Samanpazarı, the main shopping district of the time. The facade of the tower facing the train station was called “The lower face of Ankara,” and the facade facing Hüseyin Gazi Hill and İdris mountain “The upper face of Ankara.” Its bell, produced in Strasbourg, suggest that the tower may have been made in France. The inscription, restored in 2007, states that the tower was commissioned by Sırrı Paşa, the governor of Ankara in 1884.
