Title
Anglo-Saxon glass beads
Description
English: Two circular glass beads, probably early Anglo-Saxon in date. One is dark blue in colour and annular with a circular perforation. It has a diameter of 10.94mm and a thickness of 7.97mm.
There is only half of the second bead. It is light turquoise in colour, annular and possesses a circular perforation. It is comparable with examples from Witton Gilbert, Co. Durham, recorded by the Portable Antiquities Scheme. It measures approximately 10.11mm in diameter and a maximum of 8.3mm in thickness.

Blue annular beads such as these are common in the early Anglo-Saxon period; Brugmann (2004) dates them to her Group A1, 430-550 AD.
